I have a Caravan with an IMS conversion; 10" lowered floor, folding
ramp, and kneeling system. Going over bumps makes the ramp rattle, and
it drives me crazy, especially because many towns don't have a large
enough budget to keep local roads in good shape. I have noticed that
someone does a conversion where the ramp slides into the floor. Is this
type of ramp any quieter than the folding ones?
Also, has anyone here figured out a way to quiet a folding ramp to any
degree?

Thanks,
Don

If you have the strenth and dexterity, try a bungie cord....

If not, you might be able to rig an extension type gas cylinder,
like the ones on a hatchback or hood that hold them up when open..
Attach it to the door, such that when the door closes, the cylinder
puts pressure on the ramp to keep the rattle down. Make sure you do
it in such a way that you don't overstress the door closer motor.

Good luck.

I think ours has a small rubber pad at the point of contact that puts
a little pressure on the place where the ramp locks. Our manual ramp
works great.

Don,

The in floor ramp conversions are quieter but cost more than the fold
ramp conversions. I have sold both versions but usually suggested the
folding style. The noise you are experiencing typical if the van is 5
years or older, The main cables tend to strech with age and should be
replaced. If you van is new then the work can be done under warranty.

Let me know what happens.

John
